“The roof plan measures 24.72 x 40.00mt. Two lengths in “Golden Section” between them.
This relationship, which roughly equals 1 / 1.618, has always fascinated mankind. Having discovered that the human body is obsessively constructed with this proportion (the position of the navel, the bones of the arms and legs, every detail of the face) they built the most important buildings in the same way. The concept was to repeat the action of God who “created the human being in his image and likeness.” It has always been used as a way to celebrate the concept of Microcosm and Macrocosm: the human being is a reduced image of the whole. Idea that places man at the center of the universe, hence the term “Humanism.” We can see this in buildings such as the Pyramid of Giza in Cairo or the Parthenon in Athens, the Pantheon in Rome or in a variety of Buddhist, Islamic, Romanesque, Renaissance buildings and in Gothic cathedrals, as well as in modern architecture by great meastrians such as Le Corbusier.
This proportion is present in the Cure Square canopy not only in plan but also in the east and west elevations, where the pairs of beams are presented at their ends with two 70x20cm wooden sections, paired and spaced 73cm apart, to form a total rectangle of 70x113cm (20+73+20=113) in Golden Section.
And it is also present in the north and south facades, because the joists that have a base of 10cm are intevalled by a space of 16cm, approximately in Golden Section.
This proportion therefore is present in all directions of the project according to the three Cartesian axes, in order to align this new building with the Florentine tradition that has made extensive use of it in many excellent examples including “San Miniato al Monte and the Baptistery.”
An architectural masterpiece with Italian style, built with PEFC Solidarity Wood felled by Cyclone VAIA in the forests of Northeastern Italy in October 2018.
