We completed the reconstruction of an industrial building with attached offices, located in the Tuscan hills north of Florence. In the structural adjustment of the building, we replaced the entire roof using curved laminated beams built with PEFC®-certified wood harvested sustainably in the forests of Friuli Venezia Giulia. For the walls, also made of wood, we used the “frame” technology, which allows us to create high-performance load-bearing structures capable of absorbing seismic waves like no other building technology.

Using our own unique technology, we made the sound-absorbing ceilings that ensure true comfort of the working environment. For these, we used large-format fir wood panels connected directly to the roof structure and processed with millings designed to absorb and abate sound waves. Wood buildings and renovations are showcasing all the advantages of building with wood: a renewable material that requires limited energy consumption at all stages of processing.

“The construction of new buildings, with traditional materials of steel, iron and concrete, accounts for about 39 percent of all global carbon emissions. Reducing these numbers is critical to ensuring a healthy, prosperous and biodiversity-rich future, and the answer may lie in nature itself: in wood.”
