WOODOT: Artificial Intelligence for Glulam Beams
Bologna, SAIE 2024: we presented WOODOT, the new rover with a robotic arm that applies AI to the construction world.
WOODOT is an innovative system for performing multiple processes on large, custom-shaped laminated wooden beams. It consists of a 6-axis robotic arm mounted on an automated guided rover and equipped with an integrated vision system with artificial intelligence. The system can interchange different tools, specifically designed for specific tasks, such as removing wood defects, cutting with a chainsaw, painting, sanding and edging.
This project highlights the innovation linked to new ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE FOR CONSTRUCTION technologies; in collaboration with Senaf and six market-leading companies: Focchi Group, Sigma Ingegneria, Eurostratex, Homberger, Cremonini and Dilium. The new machine-learning techniques are applied to integrated solutions for design, manufacturing, monitoring and optimization of business processes.
