The European research project The LIFECO2PES&PEF project was completed last autumn, in which Legnolandia Group actively participated by providing data on the woodworking processes in the context of furnishing and construction products. For our part, we have provided all the data relating to the use of energy for transformation, accessory materials, quantified the waste produced during processing, indicating their destination and reuse at the end of their life. The research carried out with the coordination of the Sant’Anna Superiore School of Pisa, the participation of the Emilia Romagna and Friuli Venezia Giulia Regions, of Federlegno and Legambiente together with other local organizations, had the aim of promoting and support companies and forestry systems in the storage ofCO2. Collecting data from the various wood processing and harvesting activities, we are preparing a TOOL Kit with which forestry operators and wood processing companies will be able to calculate and quantify their PES&PEF.
The PES Ecosystem Credits (i.e. the valorisation of activities that promote the health and proper functioning of ecosystems, with direct impacts on human health) the PEF “ Product Environment Footprint, or the environmental footprint that is produced by the activities, which is based on the LCA (Life Circle Footprint – Product life cycle) are topics on which the undersigned is committed and involved for many years.
For us, compared to other operators, it was easy to achieve significant results, as the environmental policy pursued for years which has seen us engaged on various fronts, has allowed us to achieve prestigious results which now see us consumingonly energy electricity from a renewable or self-produced source, use the thermal energy produced by the combustion of biomass, reduce the use of materials, make almost exclusive use of raw materials coming from a short supply chain.
Proof of this is that Legnolandia Group has been mentioned several times in Symbola’s GREENITALY REPORT agenda and awarded the Green Flag by Legambiente.
