Legnolandia has completed Save the Children’s new Punto Luce in Milan, an educational and social center built entirely of certified natural wood.
Designed by the Aoumm studio, it is the NGO’s 27th center in Italy and the most sustainable ever built.
The structure, approximately 650 square meters, has an irregular circular shape, a green roof, a photovoltaic system, and dynamic spaces for activities dedicated to over a thousand children and adolescents in the Gallaratese neighborhood. The structural and cladding elements, in fir, larch, and okoumé, were produced in the Forni di Sopra, Sutrio, and Villa Santina factories and then assembled on site. Wood, chosen for its natural qualities and ability to change over time, restores balance and well-being to the spaces. The project embodies a poetic and circular approach to architecture, designed to age gracefully and welcome generations of young people into a living and transformable space.
